The Permanent track in Curwen Hall Park, Workington is
raised and of steel construction supported on steel tubular
columns.
It caters for 5" and 3.5"gauges. It is in the form of an oval with 50' radius ends and straights of 150' giving a total circuit length of 600' and it is located in a tree-covered area. The gradient along the straights is approximately 1:100. The width over rails and fastenings is 7½" at rail level and the minimum railtop to ground clearance is 10½".
Steaming bays are radial to a swing section of the track
which also allows access to the centre of the track. There
are no laid on services so batteries and water are brought to site for running events.
Visitors are welcome on open days or by specific invitation. Current Boiler certificates and proof of membership of an
organisation providing suitable Public Liability
Insurance must be provided.
Spark arrestors and secondary couplings are
required for public running.
